George Lampros is a Chicago-based singer-songwriter, musician, and audio engineer.
He is a first generation American whose musical influences span the globe. From the folk-like mountain music that can be heard in the Northern parts of Greece to the progressive rock he practiced as a young drummer, the music he channels includes many styles. Things that might sound familiar are blended into something different.
On his first release, Looks Like, you''ll hear some funky-type rock on the 1st track followed by a tune with hand drum and accordion! Track 3 is a mix of jazz cords, for the intro and solo sections, with fiddle, pedal steel, and piano that soon blend into a country rock section which breaks into a foot stomping hook that''s sure to please. Looks Like consists of 14 tracks and each one of them is unique in its own way.
It would be easy to say this album is a "musical experiment" set into motion by a musician for other musicians to ponder over... but that would be missing the point. George is a storytelling musician. The music is there to serve the lyrics as much if not more than the other way around.
As a student George was assigned to clean all the desks in his classes in which he admitted to writing and drawing huge murals and poems... Now, with slightly different creative media, his musical and poetic expressions are as strong as ever.
