In 82, point blank I was born a bastard. Aside all that I realized at a young age where my focus was. When everything else collapses it’s the sound that keeps you leveled. It’s the sound that keeps you moving. “I’m a musician, just a different kind of musician.” – Sun Ra. Amun Ra grew up in Brooklyn, was raised in the Bronx, and traveled the north-east like a gypsy, but NY is always home. My music style is raw, it’s timeless, faceless, but still in your face, its hip-hop.
My intent of this Bio is to address the one constant fact. I’m a musician. When I make up its music, when I sleep it’s music, basically there isn’t a time that I’m not at job wishing my 9 to 5 was music. Currently I’m working on an EP. I’ve just cleared a song with DJ Green Lantern, and was showcased on the Myspace Invasion pt 6 Tape for my song “Rude Awakening.” That song really set a tone, a tone that really brought back many times in my life that I was close to throwing in the towel. Growing up fatherless, too light for the Ricans, to broke for a life. I had to get it by any means. Growing up in the street literally was no picnic. A man’s worst fear is speaking and no one’s there to listen. I learned the value of friendships, and the importance of “real” family. I learned to live frugal, but enjoy luxury. On the concrete is where I learned to be a man.
My foot in the door was getting on tapes, being heard by an audience, demanding their attention, but respecting their choice to listen. It’s easy to sit and write about what it is I did, or how it was done. It’s another thing entirely to just get it done. I have big plans. It isn’t about the small game, it’s about seeing what it is you want, and taking it. My EP is only the beginning. To expand on the not easily visible mosaic that is my life, I plan on bringing ears to my voice. I plan on making the world remember why they fell in love with the art form. Some of my accomplishments were best revered when I landed in Tampa. So many battles on the underground scene, a flooded market of would-be rapper’s, just brought me to a decision to relocate from a New York for a minute. There were just too many chiefs, and not many willing to be an Indian. I had to redirect my focus. I had to put things in perspective, and tap into areas and never once will I forget where I came from. It’s a constant reminder that nothing lasts forever, but something’s last a https://www.tradebit.comember when your at your lowest there is always lower. As long as there’s breath in me, I will continue to write, perform, and work as one in the business should.
