These six songs delve deep into the darker depths of rock''n''roll. Making a whistlestop pilgrimage across musical state lines - from blues to country with a gospel singer’s intensity. Beneath the groove and strut lies an unexpected, sobering introspection.

Alex wrote, produced and engineered, playing nearly all of the instruments heard – including acoustic, electric, lap steel, baritone and bass guitars, Fender Rhodes keyboard and the drums. The album also features guest musicians: Richard Coulson on piano and Fender Rhodes (tracks 1, 2 and 4), bass guitar from Graham Godfrey (tracks 1 and 4), harmonica from Lorne Stockman (tracks 2 and 4) and drums from Ed Hopwood (on tracks 1 and 4).
The result sees Alex drawing from influences such as the heavy blues sound of artists like Captain Beefheart and Tom Waits, the hypnotic guitar work of musicians such as John Lee Hooker and Fred McDowell and the rough-hewn, earthy song-craft of troubadours like Townes Van Zandt.
