Words cannot express how grateful I am to God for giving me the gift of music. Music is the common language that links all nationalities. If utilized under the power of God, it can assist in leading many to Christ. I am a living witness to this for it was music that peaked my interest in God and church. I have been blessed to work in workshops with award-winning artists such as Hezekiah Walker & Kirk Franklin. I have also had the privilege of working with recording artists Eleanor Murray, Darrell Blair, and the new up and coming group SUA.
In the Summer of 2004, my Texas family came together from the East and the West to discuss the interest of doing a family CD. After discussing our gifts and talents, required expectations, and the needed commitment to make the project successful, the first rehearsal was held and Empowered to Praise was born. We established three goals toward the dream of producing this CD: to enjoy a worship experience as an entire family, to thank God for blessing us with gifts and talents that would richly bless the lives of others, and to have fellowship as a family.
In recognizing the importance of keeping Jesus Christ the center of our focus, we pulled together in prayer, praise, and worship. In the Fall of 2005, Empowered to Praise held its first live recording. We were so excited to see our goals and dream coming alive before our very eyes. The atmosphere was charged with God’s anointing and our worship experience was beyond our wildest dreams. We were in awe as God’s presence caused our praises to be lifted high in the earth. The road was long and hard; however, we had great experiences. I think that our commitment, patience, and diligence will be most rewarding when we hear about others being blessed. Thank God for His gift of empowering my family to praise.
