Details:
In “Volume 1 - A Fresh Start”, begins with an early morning walk full of the usual birds sounds of Mayapur, moving thru various parts of the day and sounds ending with the tense atmosphere just before the monsoon season, and the amazing and mysterious nights.

Early Morning Walk
The mornings in Mayapur are a time of meditation, contemplation, and worship. Walking along the paths between the lush green rice fields one can relish this very special and spiritual atmosphere; it’s like a gimps of the spiritual world.

Arrival
The are so many special celebrations every year in Mayapur. Many people come from all over India and the world. They arrive by foot, bus, and car; the excitement in the atmosphere heightens as the sounds raise to the point of becoming almost pleasant.

Goshala
A goshala is a place where the cows are kept and tended. The cows give abundant milk and the bulls work the fields. Our mother gives us her milk and the cow who provides us with her milk is also considered one of our mothers and is worthy of our protection. Killing cows is the most sinful and immoral activity.

Before Rain
There is a special season in Mayapur between the end of the summer and the rainy seasons. The hot atmosphere is waiting to be relieved by the merciful and cooling rains. Just like the sound of the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra is soothing for the embodied soul.

Afternoon
The afternoon in Mayapur is very peaceful. People are taking shelter from the powerful sun in their simple homes, or in the refreshing waters of the mighty Ganges. They wait for the evening that will bring renewed activity like the business man who re-opens his shop hoping to make more money or others who are more devotional and are eager to join the kirtan in the temple for the evening ceremony.

Walking
Going back to the natural exercise of walking. Walking in Mayapur is very pleasant. Just like listening to a beautiful devotional song where there are no dangers.

Moon Rise
In the month of March the moon has a very special significance. The raising of the full moon is a spectacular experience; it is reassuring and refreshing, just like the voice of the wise sage who is full in wisdom of the Absolute Truth.

Celebrations
Every day is a festival in Mayapur. There are festivals in the water, festivals on the back of an elephant, festivals of lights, of flowers, of sandalwood paste, and festivals of colored powders and dyes. There is every reason to get together and chant the Holy Name.

Pilgrims on the Road
The road that takes pilgrims to the Mayapur area sometimes looks like a stream of souls that is moving in different directions. It is a river of people coming to bathe in the Holy Rivers of the Ganges and the Holy Name.

Night Time
The night is peaceful and yet full of the sounds, crickets and frogs as well as jackals and angry dogs. The first sound seem to invite you to take advantage of this pleasant aspect of the night; taking rest with your mind peacefully meditating on Krishna. The second sound seems to be a warning about the dangers of the darkness in ignorance.

Krishna Prema das was born as GiamPaolo Tofani in Florence Italy, 1944. At the age of 16 he started playing guitar following the mood of artists of that time (Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, The Shadows etc.)

In 1969 after different musical experiences in Italy (including the groups “I Samurai”, “I Califfi” ), he found him self in England playing in various clubs in London. At that time he started getting involved with the Electronic Synths of EMS and working on solo productions. He mastered a way to get great sound out of a simple stereo tape recorder.

In 1973 Paolo returned to Italy to join the group named “Area”. During this time he became deeply involved in electronic, jazz, avant-garde, ethnic and classical music with musicians like Stockhausen, Derek Baley, Steve Lacy, Zakir Hussain and many others. His explorative nature brought his life into a radical direction when he became a Vaishnava monk in 1979.

This did not stop his desire to go deeper into the understanding of music, but gave inspiration to go deeper into the root meaning of it, and the connections it has to the spiritual side of the human being.

His intense research lead him to music of the Raga scales and the design and construction of a unique guitar type instrument call a “Tri-kanta Veena”.

There are two instrumental series the Mayapur Meditations and Radical Ragas series’.

Now Krishna Prema produces his music in an endeavor to share his thoughts and realizations as a musician and a man with others.
