“Blood in the Water”

While the world is still whirling and rebuilding from the devastation of such killer water storms as the Tsunami and Hurricanes Katrina, Wilma and Rita, Rapper/Entrepreneur/CEO Kenny Kane takes us to more refreshing waters with his sophomore effort “Blood in the Water”.

Beautiful Places, Smiling Faces

With such a warm, welcoming license plate, it’s no wonder so many well meaning Mothers and Grandmothers send their wayward sons to this Southern Oasis for a second chance. The Paterson , New Jersey Native was sent down after a stint of trouble in the late 1980’s in hopes of keeping him alive and out of jail. But the smell of fried chicken, collard greens and the lush scenery, tall palmetto trees and vass magnificent country side only served one purpose for the younger Kenny Kane; a bigger, nicer , safer place to hone his “street game”. On the corners of Paterson, curious kids got to see first hand the dangers of selling drugs. The daily murders, stabbings and police round-ups took the glamour out of the hardest kids’ “street dreams”. So, with new surroundings and a new found bravado K.K. took the “street game” from Paterson and turned Southern Comfort into Southern Trouble.

Prison Epiphany

Although K.K. does not recommend prison as a means of higher education it served as one for him. The naturally bright Kenny Kane had three Prison Epiphanies that he now credits to making his life what it is now.

Prison Epiphany #1-The South nor prison will reform you!

Prison Epiphany #2-After battling and winning on a prison yard of 4000 he learned he could rap!

Prison Epiphany #3-Prison was not for him!

Source of Dreams

After leaving prison for the last time Kenny Kane soon discovered two other Epiphanies; he’s not cut out for a regular 9 to 5 and it’s hard beating the odds and not returning to prison. One day while buying a Source Magazine, K.K. stumbled onto a book that taught him how to start, produce and market music. In that moment a dream was born. His dream came to fruition when he started his own record label South Kak Coalition. His plan was to sign , market, and produce the local cream of the crop. First of course he signed himself. ‘Only the best for the best’ He beams with a smile.

Finding A Beat for a Rap VS Fighting to Beat a Rap

After the success of his first C.D. “Dirty Road” K.K. found the lure of the streets too hard to resist. He tried in earnest to return to the studio but the “street life” seemed to bring him more satisfaction. This careless attitude all changed when his beloved Grandmother died in the Fall of 2004. She had beaten the odds and survived ovarian cancer for thirteen years. Realizing he’d forever lost his living Angel, K.K returned to the studio. Just like her he plans to beat the odds. He would rather spend his days finding a beat for a rap then always fighting to beat a rap.
