Liz Brown began her professional singing career at the age of 3, performing in a cowgirl costume at her grandparents'' gas station in the pine barrens of New Jersey.
In the early 70''s she moved to San Francisco and performed blues with some of the great Bay Area musicians of the time like Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Taj Mahal, as well as experimental world music people embracing the San Francisco music scene. Liz heard Betty Carter and soon incorporated scat and jazz into the many blues styles she was developing.
In 1983 Liz moved to the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina and formed the experimental blues band Liz and the Tomcats. In 1994, she joined the areas best blues/funk/jam band Chicken Fat Music Company, a high energy crowd favorite among the diverse counter culture thriving in the North Carolina mountains.
Mama''s Blues was recorded in 1997 to critical acclaim. Liz''s next CD "Borderline" is now available at https://www.tradebit.com and other affiliated music sites. Liz plans to release a roots/blues album in early 2007. Liz lives in Atlanta and has set off in new musical directions rooted in rural, southern folk-blues. You can see Liz perform a dozen times, and you will never see the same show twice.
