LISA ADRIANNE’S BIOGRAPHY
Lisa Adrianne is a young woman with an unmistakable gift, and a profound message. Her music reflects her passion for life and burning desire to communicate hope to those dying to feel understood by someone. These gifts and passions did not happen by accident... they were developed!
Lisa was raised in a Christian home in the small community of Yarrow, BC as the oldest of four home-schooled daughters. Her parents (Milton & Mary-Ann) invested deeply into Lisa and her sisters, modeling love, training, laughter, warmth and closeness with each other and with God. Her flexible home school schedule also allowed the development of her musical talents through piano and voice lessons, then teaching those very things herself.
During her early teens, Lisa began a haunting descent into depression. Lack of awareness regarding this condition (the fastest growing disease in North America) added to her undiagnosed, confusing despair. The happy face mask fit well, so she kept on going, and tried to ignore thoughts of ending her life.
For a time, her condition improved, but during her mid-teens she developed acne and became hyper-aware of her weight. She hated her reflection so much that she took out the light-fixtures above her bathroom mirror. She nearly stopped eating. But when she began to crave the sensation of hunger, she finally admitted to herself, and her mother Mary-Ann, that she had a problem. Throughout this time, her mother became a rock of encouragement and support, helping Lisa to renew healthy eating habits.
In her late teens, Lisa became involved with her church, first with children, then as an active member of the youth group, then as a Youth Sponsor. Even through her depression, God grew her confidence as she expanded into Sunday morning worship ministry alongside her mentoring Worship Pastors. She continued her vocal training and began to write songs. She enjoyed relationships that encouraged her in life and music ministry. But neither Lisa, nor her family knew that their whole world was about to change… Following a routine mammogram, Lisa’s mother, Mary-Ann was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thus began a two year whirlwind of loss, growth, hopes, shattered dreams and … deepened love.
Hopes were shattered again when ''normal'' back pain turned out to be the cancer that had moved to her spine. However, Mary-Ann’s strength was inspiring and contagious as she carried her family along in faith, enjoying an intimate relationship with God. She told her family that if she were offered the choice to have never had cancer -- she would not take it!
Believing that things were stable and with her mother''s encouragement, Lisa left for Bible School in California. Here Lisa found – and grew into –herself as a dearly loved child of God, and as a worship artist! Lisa finally believed she was beautiful and that she had purpose! Soon afterwards, depression hit Lisa again full force around the same time she came home for Christmas. Again, it was her mother who facilitated proper treatment and medication, and Lisa chose not to return to school.
In April 2006, without warning, the cancer had spread to her liver. On April 24th, Mary-Ann -- Lisa’s mother and mentor -- went home to be with her Lord. Swamped by grief and disbelief, her entire family still felt the certain Hand of God in and upon their lives. They continue to carry each other through the difficult grieving process.
There is still much that Lisa does not understand. But what resonates with clarity beyond her years is her rock solid certainty that God is good - no matter what. Yes, she hates cancer and will do all she can to help eradicate it from the planet. However, a deeper mission has overtaken her heart. Instead, she wants women to know that they are beautiful simply because they are in Christ. She wants to help others cope with cancer &/or the devastating loss that it can bring to a family. She longs to use her passion for music as a tool that will lead people to the amazing comfort found within an amazing God.
Carry On will put words and passion to others own losses, igniting hidden hope and purpose! Lisa’s powerful message and profound authenticity will bless all who have the privilege to know her, and hear her message – that GOD IS GOOD!
