Details:
The Ralph Morgan Brian Moore Duo has released their second album, "Turn Out The Stars", with straight ahead arrangements of some well-chosen jazz standards, including the title ballad track written by pianist Bill Evans. Works by other legendary jazz composers such as Horace Silver ("The Preacher" & "Silver''s Serenade"), Thelonious Monk ("Blue Monk"), Kenny Dorham ("Blue Bossa"), Freddie Hubbard ("Up Jumped Spring") and Oliver Nelson ("Stolen Moments") are given swinging treatments by the Duo. Versions of the jazz waltzes, "Someday My Prince Will Come", popularized by Miles Davis, and "Bluesette", written by French musician Toots Thielmans are also re-worked with lyrical improvisations. The duo breathes new life into an evergreen standard, Like Someone In Love, and the Brazilian bossa nova "Black Orpheus" from the movie of the same name. Ralph Morgan & Brian Moore have been playing together for years, and these tracks show it!
Ralph Morgan has played in the past with legendary bassist Victor Gaskin, and is currently studying with world class pianist & teacher, Joanne Brackeen.
Brian Kendall Moore has performed with Ed Shaughnessy, Bobby Shew, Charles Mcpherson, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Besides being a member of the duo, he is also a member of Grupo Fiesta, a Latin rock band, and songwriter Keith Everett''s Orange Morris Band. He also leads his own avant-garde performance group Sound Circus.
