His two major music video productions, MISTER LAURENCE IN BUBBLELAND and MISTER LAURENCE – RETURN TO BUBBLELAND, were both awarded 2nd place Finalist at the Philo T. Farnsworth Central States Video Festival (2003 and 2005, respectively).
His original version of I''M A LITTLE TEAPOT, was selected and used for the soundtrack for an independent Australian film, entitled IT''S ONLY A GAME. This made it to screening night at Enter The Dragon Film Festival fall 2003, in Hurstville, NDW Australia.
JACK N'' JILL''S HILL, a composition of his, was picked by KidAntrim Music to be included on their industry compilation CD. This was distributed nationally to various radio & record labels, in spring 2004.
KIDDIE-ROCK RADIO ~ Mister Laurence hosts a children’s radio show in Ann Arbor - 6 years running. This is aired over WCBN FM 88.3 on the last Friday of every month, at 8:00am. Mister Laurence and deejay Sean Westergaard spin rare vintage children’s records from the 40’s & 50’s, mixed with wild modern variations. Mister Laurence also performs his children’s songs and stories "live" over the air, with free CD giveaways!
MUSICAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Mr. Laurence Bond Miller was born and raised in Ann Arbor Michigan, and as youngest in a musical family of 5 was exposed to an environment of various music throughout his formative years. Mercilessly bombarded with romantic classical and modern 20th century from his father, tortured by 50’s classics and 60’s folk by his older siblings, and finally drowned in British Invasion/pop-psychedelic underground, you will hear an extreme variety of influences in Miller’s songwriting styles throughout his performing career!
During his teen years, Miller taught himself how to play the guitar and drums. Being left handed and unable to afford a left-handed model, Laurence learned how to form chords and scales on his brother’s right-handed guitar - upside down. Soon, he was leading and co-leading many of Ann Arbor’s most original bands with musical brothers ROGER MILLER (MISSION OF BURMA/BIRDSONGS OF THE MESOZOIC/ALLOY ORCHESTRA), and twin brother BEN MILLER (DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, NON-FICTION, THIRD BORDER).
By 1977, having lost interest in music college, Laurence and his twin brother Ben became instrumental in the makings of DESTROY ALL MONSTERS. D.A.M. were then considered to be Detroit’s first Punk band, featuring X-STOOGE guitarist Ron Asheton and X-MC-5 bassist Michael Davis. Opening up for the likes of THE RAMONES, DEVO, and PERE UBU, Laurence & Ben left their mark on D.A.M.’s first two singles.
During the the 80’s, Laurence continued working with his brother, co-leading various bands, most notably Ann Arbor’s post-punk band NON-FICTION. NON-FICTION, a well rehearsed power-trio mixing hard pop with avant-garde, was one of 12 bands picked for Ann Arbor’s 1st compilation LP “Cruzin’ Ann Arbor” (1982). This featured a song written by Laurence entitled "Walkie-Talkie" which received favorable reviews nationwide. For the remainder of that decade, Laurence continued as leader and songwriter for THE EMPTY SET, an offshoot of NON-FICTION. Networking out of L.A., THE EMPTY SET recorded their 4-song EP "WANDERING IN WONDER" and full length LP "LOST IN A RIPTIDE".
The 90''s saw Laurence forming his own record label & publishing company. Performing all tracks himself, he recorded fresh originals for his brand new brainchild: LARYNX ZILLION’S NOVELTY SHOP. "The Shop" was an unusual theatrical R&R presentation, pulling influences from American composer CHARLES IVES and Brit Pop sensation, ADAM & THE ANTS. Remaining a local cult phenomena only, LARYNX ZILLION’S NOVELTY SHOP released 5 recordings.
FINALLY: In the fall of 1997, Laurence found employment in the local children centers as music director. His immediate bonding with the children inspired him to begin writing songs again, this time geared with “the very young” in mind. With children of his own, this proved to be a rather natural transitional experience. It was then that Mr. Miller came to the revelation that his real target audience was children!
As all teachers in the pre-school community are addressed by their first name, Laurence had the chance to reinvent himself yet one more time. MISTER LAURENCE and his Play Money Band! Since then, Mister Laurence has written, recorded and released 6 major works as well as several Novelty Cd’s, a compilation cassette, and a bound collection of original children''s stories illustrated by Mike Mosher. Performing his new wave brand of Kiddie-Rock throughout the Detroit Metro area, Laurence is now turning on a whole new generation!
