Leila and the Snakes was a popular Punk/New Wave band in San Francisco in the late 70''s. Leila, a.k.a actress and comedienne Jane Dornacker, was bandleader, singer, and self proclaimed ''Queen of Punk''. They headlined the premier clubs of that era including the Mabuhay Gardens, the Palms Cafe, and Keystone Berkeley. Funny, raw, powerful, sexy, vibrant, and highly original, the band recorded this album at the peak of popularity in 1978, but broke up shortly thereafter, so the music was never released. Until Now!! The band features guitarist /composer Miles Corbin who went on to much aclaim as leader of the reknown surf instrumental band the Aqua Velvets. The Snakes shared the bill with many of their comtempories including the Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, Devo, and Blondie.
