"Ms Evangelista can "work a crowd" better than almost any performer I''ve seen. She excells at bringing the audience into her magic circle. They are both charmed and captured by her. In fact, we have more requests to have MaryAnn perform than any other concert we''ve done." Jan Morrison, Director, Oakland

" MaryAnn Bailey (Evangelista) is one of the finest performers that I have seen in my travels across the country. Her talent is rare as a singer, her voice has the breadth, width, depth and diversity that is very rare in our business. It is exciting when you hear a well trained voice that is able to do cross over forms of music...As the National President of the American Guid of Variety Artisits, I would rate MaryAnn Bailey as an exceptional talent. I would like to add that more than a talent, MaryAnn is one of those rare individuals that you seldom see in our business. She is filled with love, and humility..." Alan Jay Nelson, President

BIO

I was born and raised in the Northwest corner of Washington State in the little town of Ferndale and I always remember having music in my life. I started piano lessons somewhere around the age of 3 and I loved it. I would even get up in the middle of the night and play the piano into the wee hours of the morning. From age 13 through 18 I worked as a church organist. This passion that I had for music at a young age has continued throughout my entire life.

After High School I headed East. I received a Bachelor''s of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio and extended my studies at the Mozarteum, the Oglebay Opera Institute with Boris Goldovski and the Aspen School of Music as well as others.

I have lived in quite a few different locations in the United States , i.e. Hawaii for 10 years. As a result, Hawaiian music has had a great influence in my life. I co-starred with Jim Nabors, in his Polynesian Extravaganza in Waikiki for two years and it was a thrilling experience doing 12 shows a week. I also sang with the Honolulu Opera Theatre and with the Symphony quite often.

There are so many funny stories to tell. "I will share just one of these with you:"

In Hawaii, I was singing at a very important military ceremony outside, which was attended by countless high ranking military Admirals and Generals. Well ... this particular day I ended up singing the National Anthem alone: but not totally alone. A little tiny white dog decided to sit directly beside me and sing along. Everyone was at the position of Attention saluting the flag and no one dared to move either their salute or my little friend. I could hardly contain myself. It was a great duet and a priceless moment!!

Competitions are so much fun! They are incredibly challenging and I loved singing in them! I sang at the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and became one of the National Finalists, the National Vocal Winner of the MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), the Pan Pacific finalist for the San Francisco Opera Auditions and vocal winner of the Oberlin Concerto Competition.

I toured with the Honolulu Opera Touring Company as their coach and accompanist, sang with the San Francisco Children''s Opera Company, was the leading soprano for the Pocket Opera Company for 7 years on the East Coast, sang with the Baltimore Opera Touring Company as well as the Atlanta Repertoire Company.

Entertaining a children''s audience can be a challenging and exhilirating experience. It is quite a responsibility to reveal to these hungry little minds the essence of opera and share with them the beauty of it all within 45 minutes. My hope was always to encourage them and open their visions to the possibility of making classical music part of their lives.

I am passionate about the depth and lyricism of classical music, the vivacity and tenderness of Broadway Musicals, the simplicity and honesty of folk music and the profound truth in spirituals. All of these are true gifts to the world of music.

I am thrilled with my Musical Director, Stefan Scaggiari and the other musicians I have chosen to join me in this album; Joseph Cunliffe and Giorgia Cavallaro. Winter Moon truly has been and continues to be an experience of love and light!
