MP3 Pamela Martinez - Volume 1

Electronic driven trip hop with lush strings.

4 MP3 Songs
ELECTRONIC: Trip Hop, ROCK: Emo

Details:
Pamela Martinez emerges onto the electronic pop music scene with a fury of words, images and sound. She builds a theatrical atmosphere that captures her audience with haunting vocals and expressive violin performance. This new evolution of rock replaces the guitar with the violin giving an otherworldly yet strangely familiar sensation to this singer/songwriter.

Originally from Texas, Pamela''s music echoes the painted hues and tones of San Antonio''s vividly pastel nightscape. She started playing the violin at the age of 10. Not content with the predictable musical path of a classically trained string player, she soon began improvising and writing her own music. By age 18, she plugged in her violin and started playing electric at local venues every weekend. Around this time, Pamela also began writing songs on guitar and piano. By 1997, Pamela had formed a band called Mixolydian. Her new role as a singer rounded out her songwriting dexterity. Mixolydian explored blends of rock and classical in combination with less traditional instruments like wind chimes, buckets, pots and anything else they could make noise with.

In January of 2000, Pamela moved to Boston and formed her next band, ''Ideoplastic''. Ideoplastic unleashed yet another twist of modern pop while still maintaining the personality of Pamela''s previous projects. Now joined by co-writers Liz Meredith on viola, and Monica Rodriguez the group complimented their arrangements for electronics and strings with a raw and lively rhythm section. Michael Teoli of ''The Groove'', a popular newspaper in Boston, wrote, "Ideoplastic paints wonderful textures not often found in popular music. Ideoplastic brings the strings right up front."

While not writing music for her band, Pamela finds time to write and produce her own projects. She has undertaken numerous collaborations with the artists Ganucheau, Clay Blender, Color & Talea, a2ndspace, and Brian Hamilton. Pamela is also involved in her own textile arts/production company under the name Teletextile. Pamela continues her innovation with a forthcoming EP also entitled Teletextile. This collection will showcase the different shades of her craft. It is expected for independent release by May 2004."
