Growing up in Columbia, South Carolina he found his calling at a young age “to sing”, and later God would use his gift to spread his word through song.
Working under the guidance of his church choir Bible Way At Atlas and being one of the former lead singers from CaBrailsong , his gift of song is truly remarkable, not to mention that God not only used his passionate vocals to share his story, he’s also blessed him to become an amazing songwriter, penning much of the highly anticipated album “Finally” from his forthcoming CD.
Inspired by Donnie McClurkin, Patti LaBelle, Donald Lawrence, and gifted with the contemporary styling of Larnell Harris all of which he credits as inspirations to his music career, influencing his commanding stage presence, and true to life lyrics. Many would surely categorize him in the newly crowned “Christian, Gospel, and Inspirational Soul Recording Artist" genre.
“I’m Not The Same” his debut single showcases his deep gospel vocal roots and acrobatics along with musical elements of contemporary Christian and Gospel music. Written by Roderick and Grammy Award Winning recording artist ANN NESBY (also the song’s producer), this song tells a true account of turning one’s life around, his journey from sinner to saint. “I hope to inspire everyone who listens to worship God in spirit, truth, and to help motivate them to celebrate their salvation, first and foremost to remind everyone that Jesus is the answer for every situation in their lives”, states Roderick.
Taking a deeper journey into his forthcoming CD take note of “You Are My Friend” originally sung, written, and recorded by the legendary Patti LaBelle. This inspirational song has a special dedication to God and his son Jesus Christ. Roderick’s version of this classic song has a different meaning as he delivers a personal message to our Great Father in Heaven, listen and be moved!
