about SLY......native of Los Angeles, California. spent his teen age years tagging on walls and busses, gang banging, seling weed and other stuff, smoking weed and other stuff, making beats and battling emcee''s. after a few trips to jail and noe to the PIN, SLY decided to focus all his attention to his natural talent, this rap shit. SLY hooked up with Chachie Del Negro and LEVEL ONE two big time hustlers with cash to spare antd they agreed to back the "4 yo'' luv" project. the two execs left all the details to SLY and gave him the green light to do what he do!
this CD is a creation of art. SLY tried to capture a time and freedom that has long been lost. hiphop has been corporatized and commercialized wich is not totally a bad thing, but every once in a while its cool to hear something thats from a source that has no rules or guidelines to fit a certain group. the freedom allowed SLY to go as far from the NORM as he wished. SLY is a hiphop fan that wanted to make a CD for hiphop fans. the more you listen the more you will appreciate the references to hiphop artist of past a present.
this CD has no samples and the lyrics are top notch. production is major label quality, from the mix to replication. please take a listen! SLY wanted to deliver a product of major label specs with talent and raw skill as the driving force behind our arrogance. SLY believes he is the best and he will take on any and all challengers. this cat can kill the mic and the drum machine in one session.
the beats were produced in the bathroom while sitting on the toilet with no tissue and the flusher was broken. the vocals were recorded in the attic with bats and spiders singing back up and over dubbing adlibs. the featured emcees did a great job of not dropping the ball when the mic was passed it shows these cats were having a party in the studio.
the best thing about this CD is that the subject matter and over all format is fresh and new. there is no more some old song topics over here! no talk about haters, big dope dealing with big rims, or pimpin the world with gucci soaks . you will laugh get mad, hype and high when this CD is at play. the experiance is poetic and the depth is mind blowing. Not your average emcee. i cant stress how dope this guy is. you might just have to bless your ipod, CD changer with this heat and then you will understand. this CD is perfect for skateboarding, playing chess, shooting some hoops, or watching your favorite girl next door get naked threw her window from your peeping spot. there are about three or four good porno making tracks also. get the camara ready, its time "4 yo'' luv".
