Details:
Thirty Three I.N.C. (In the Name of Christ) is a contemporary Christian group dedicated to providing passionate praise in the name of Christ! Thirty Three consists of Judy, Ron and Todd. We have been singing together since the spring of 2003. We sing at church services in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.

Thirty Three''s greatest influence from Christian music is Selah. We enjoy singing many of their great arrangements including: Wonderful, Merciful Savior; The Blood Will Never Lose It''s Power; It is Well; and Draw Me Lord.

Behind Our Name... "Thirty Three"

When we started singing together and decided this adventure was going to be more than just a “hobby”, that it was actually going to be an important mission for us all, we also decided that we needed a name that represented the three of us, our group, and our mission. We started out with standard ones that sounded a lot like other singing or Christian groups that are out there today. All for One, All for Him, Three in One, names like that. It was one night after we sang at Mary, Mother of the Church in Burnsville, that we decided to meet and talk for a while at J. Doolittles, a restaurent just down the road from church. We again were talking about names when Judy happened to mention that Jesus died when he was thirty three. None of us ever really thought of how old Jesus was when he died for us and we started thinking about using Thirty Three as our name. After thinking about it more, we realized we were connected to the name on so many levels. There were three of us, all in our thirties (no snickering, remember this was way back in 2003!!), we liked that the name “thirty three” had three t’s in it which represented the three crosses present on Calgary at the time of Jesus’ death, and we all really connected to the fact that Jesus died to save us from our sins at age thirty-three.

We weren’t totally sold though, so we all went home to think about the name. When Ron got home, Audrey (his wife) opened up the bible to Psalm 33 and read:

1 Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous. Praise befits the upright.

2 Praise the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings.

3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

4 For the word of the LORD is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness.

5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD.

6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all their host by the breath of his mouth.

7 He gathered the waters of the sea as in a bottle; he put the deeps in storehouses.

8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

Audrey and Ron looked at each other in amazement at the psalm’s tie to music and singing. It was a sign!

Ron awoke the next morning and stumbled down to the shower to get ready. After he was dressed and preparing to leave, his cell phone rang. It was Todd and he was very excited. He said, “do you know your church’s address??” Ron replied, “no, not really, I know it’s on Cliff Road.” Todd said, “Well, I do, it’s 3333 Cliff Road”. Ron immediately got goosebumps all over. Both of them were excited and amazed! It was another sign!

As we communicated our new name to people, we got a lot of feedback, some negative, some positive, of course the most memorable was the negative saying it would be a mistake to use the name for marketing purposes, people just wouldn’t understand it. But we couldn’t ignore all the signs and meaning that the name held for us, so we began working on the logo. After some stabs at logo creation from friends and coworkers, we weren’t finding what we were looking for. That’s when we brought Guy into the picture and as a result, today we have a logo that brings the name and the meaning behind it to life for us.

So‚ that’s what’s behind the name, Thirty Three. We’d like to leave you with the last three verses to Psalm 33:

20 Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and shield.

21 Our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name.

22 Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.

How we met:

In 1996 Judy and her husband Eric, decided that they would try out for a Community Theatre Show in Burnsville. Judy had always wanted to try it and the rumor was they always needed men. So they tried out and both got minor parts in the chorus. Little did they know how the people they met in that show would change their lives. Many of them have become dear lifelong friends and a few have become our partners in this ministry.

Audrey, Ron’s wife and Todd were both in “Annie” with them. We all had many good times and became very close. Through Audrey Judy and Todd met Ron. Although we had bonded during the show, we lost track of each other in the craziness of our lives over the next few years.

Todd and Judy reconnected in 2000 and began to talk about their passion for music and their desire to use their talents to spread God’s Word. Ron joined Judy & Todd in 2003 and as they say, the rest is history!

We bring our love for Theatre into everything we do with Thirty Three. If you have seen the Musical "Rent", you know that it is a very powerful and moving show with a very key message. How do we measure our lives? Rent’s composer and writer, Jonathan Larson, suggests we “Measure in Love”!
