Artist, musician and producer, Orb Gettarr and keyboardist, composer, John Pedersen are proud to release, “The New Age Masters”. With this recording, the listener is invited to hear a magical sound that transcends description. This release provides a masterful collection of eclectic influences, all woven together into a compelling tapestry of lush soundscapes. New age, ambient and progressive elements are anchored by diverse rhythms and ethnic percussion, providing for a memorable multicultural experience. The idea for this album began as an experiment in doing an online collaboration between musicians who had not previously physically met. After several months, Orb and John had conceived over an hour of fascinating music.
Guitarist and keyboardist, Orb Gettarr, has been involved with music since the age of 17, having started recording at the same time, using two portable cassette recorders to do simple overdubs. Since then, the music ''bug'' has never left him, and over the years both the music and the recording process have improved greatly. For eleven years, Orb has lived in the Midwest, running a micro studio out of his home called Tetragrammaton Productions Ltd, which has recently been renamed to TPL Studio.
Orb has also been an artist since early childhood, starting with drawing and painting, has earned a living as an adult in the sign painting industry, made and sold stained glass articles, and even done the occasional sculpture. Orb now uses his experience at graphic arts to create album cover artwork for his releases, and more recently for other artists including John Pedersen. Orb''s musical interests include ambient, progressive rock, jazz, fusion, and experimental.
Originally born and raised in Chicago, IL, John Pedersen is a keyboardist and composer now living in Southern California. Specializing in contemporary music influenced by many styles such as new age, ambient and jazz, John weaves clever melodies into a lush tapestry of sounds, providing a wonderful experience for the listener. Regardless of style, John always writes music designed to connect emotionally with the listener. It has what is known as the "wow" effect, and will touch deeply, and lift those who hear the wonderful melodies, textures and rhythms that define John Pedersen''s sound.
John contributed to this project using his Korg Triton and Roland JV-1010 synthesizers. After recording his parts onto a TASCAM DP004, he sent them to Orb’s studio via cyberspace. Orb used a plethora of softsynths such as Arturia’s Jupiter 8V2, Minimoog V, a Korg Legacy M1 and the Native Instruments Absynth 5. His hardware included a Roland GR20 guitar synth with a Fender Stratocaster, as well as Yamaha APX-5A acoustic electric guitar. The album was mixed and mastered in Adobe Audition 3.10 by Orb Gettarr at his TPL Studio between October and December of 2010.
