Michael’s musical career began at a young age. He recalls the jam sessions that his grandfather would have with members of the Texas Playboys.
“ I remember watching my grandfather and the other musicians playing the classic Country-Western tunes of Bob Wills, Chet Atkins, Asleep at the Wheel, George Strait, and many others. I was probably too young to really appreciate it; however, I feel that it had a tremendous impact on my love for music. Each time I saw my grandfather play I experienced excitement...I saw passion...I saw raw talent at it’s finest. I knew that this was something that I wanted to experience myself. He would occasionally let me sing a song with the band when they were ready for a break...but to me, it was much more. I think this was when the bug first bit me...Well...that...and the fact that I am the only BOY in my family caused me to crave for a little attention.”
Michael, being a devout member of the Church, began leading the congregational singing at North Amarillo Church of Christ when he was eight years old. Although he had to stand on a stool to reach the podium, his presence was still demanding. To this day he remains strong in his faith and continues to lead singing for his congregation when the opportunity presents itself.
Michael grew to love all types of music. Growing up, he listened to genres like Country-Western, Gospel, Standards, and Rock N Roll Oldies. As he grew older, he fell in love with the more Pop, Rock, and R&B sounds. He would even listen to the occasional Rap and Heavy Metal when the opportunity presented itself. By listening to ALL genres of music, Michael has developed a style that appeals to ALL audiences.
“My influences are so obscure, it’s difficult to pin point my own genre. I don’t want my musical style to be put inside a box. I can say that I enjoy the stylings of Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Steven Tyler, Freddie Mercury, Jerry Lee Lewis, James Brown, Jackie Wilson...the list goes on and on. I can say that I am a musician and that I love ALL types of music. I’m sure ALL musicians can say that. That’s why I categorize myself as an ENTERTAINER. As an entertainer, I can do it all. Where an audience places my music...or my sound...it is merely up to them. I entertain an audience not only with my music, but also with my performance. I want everyone that sees me to to experience a show that touches every emotion. I ENTERTAIN!”

Originally, Michael wanted to be an actor. He prided himself on becoming the next Jim Carrey or Steve Martin. Throughout his early years, he had many lead roles in comedic, dramatic, and musical performances. He even went on to compete and win several awards for his theatrics. Along with acting, Michael continued singing as often as he could. He sang in choirs, show choirs, talent shows, Oprys, and other state and national competitions that helped mold him into the entertainer that he is today. He started playing in his first band when he was fourteen.
Michael, being dually talented decided that he could mix his acting in with his music. That is one of his strongest attributes. He mixes his comedy and drama with each live, musical performance. He is a true showman and leaves each audience wanting more.
Michael continues to travel the country, singing at various corporate and private events, charities, and concerts. Along with his individual performances, Michael sings, emcees, and produces a weekly, Country Music Variety Show in Arlington, TX called Johnnie High’s Country Music Revue. For over 35 years, Johnnie High’s Country Music Revue has had an award winning show that provides family friendly entertainment to the DFW Metroplex. They have a LIVE! Show each Saturday night at the Arlington Music Hall. Aside with the live performance, this show has been featured on RFD Television, AMG Television, the AmericaOne Television Network and the Sky Angel 2 Network. It has won numerous awards over its tenure. Michael he has been named “Entertainer of the Year” more than any other performer that has crossed the Johnnie High stage.
With the debut album “Green Light” Michael has received GREAT reviews. This is an album for ALL appetites! The album was produced by renowned musician and producer Jeff Huskins. Michael and Jeff began collaborating on this project back in early 2010 and went into the studio in May of the same year. Recorded at the famous Tracking Room and mixed at Blackbird Studios (both in Nashville, TN), Michael had the opportunity to work with some of the finest studio musicians in the music industry today. Since it’s release, Michael and Jeff have been in several talks with different major and independent record labels, in hopes for deal in 2011. Things are looking incredibly promising for this charismatic performer!
Michael has a tremendous gift. He has known to bring crowds to their feet and always leaves the audience with a smile. He is the fastest rising entertainer in the state of Texas and his following grows with each and every performance. He is genuine, moral, and remains humble to the gifts that the Lord has blessed him with. It is his dream to share this gift with all of those that are willing to listen.
