Details:
Taking early Plastikman as a leap-off point and adding some funk elements, "20 Acid Vignettes" invokes head-bobs and has sublime moments, with less ear piercing squelches than early acid, and more ambient space and poly-rhythmic complexity than the modern cold, overdriven acid sound.

The vignettes vary from "hook it all up and let it go" experimental to much more sequenced and overdubbed, but the idea was to create small, interesting concepts and explore them instead of trying to make songs with chord changes or verse/chorus structure. The musical changes here occur due to the pulling in and out of counterpoint melodies and rhythm parts, letting the songs go somewhere as something else is revealed or hidden. The production techniques were also focused on maintaining rhythm as an hypnotic element.

This second Solid State Crew release moves from the incidental early 80''s old-school hip-hop sound of "Frantic Sensation" (old drum machines and before hip-hop diverged from house and ghetto blaster boomboxes in the streets of New York) to the acid techno of "20 Acid Vignettes", still letting the machines do the talking!

Main kit aka "The Crew":
Roland SH-101, MC-202, TB-303 (the x0xb0x reincarnation, sorry purists!), TR-606, TR-707, TR-808 samples, TR-909 samples, Arp Axxe, Oberheim Matrix-1000, Yamaha TX81Z, Fostex 3050 delay, Boss DM-300 delay, Arion DDS-1 delay, TC Helicon Voiceworks
