Details:
This set of songs represents a “best of” music I recorded with (primarily) Rockette Morton and Bret Short. Five years ago I got a call from Rockette trying to drum up work for his studio by soliciting from my son who had recorded in Rockette’s Bomark Studios 4 or 5 months before. The price he was asking was too good to pass up, so I told him I had some songs I’d like to record. Rockette encouraged me to compose rather than re-do songs; however, my song-writing skills are not all that great and so the bulk of the work we have done over the past 5 years has been remakes of songs that I can’t seem to get out of my head. Rockette arranged the music and on most of the songs plays all but the lead guitar parts. Rockette’s primary studio musician was Bret Short whose magnificent skills and creativity you can hear on these tracks. What you have on this album is a set of songs with instrumentals done by outstanding musicians and with lead vocals done by a patron of the arts. I have enjoyed the friendship with Rockette and Bret as well as the incredible fun of making music. Rockette has recently moved out to Oregon. Our intention is to do some more collaborations long distance.

Rockette shares lead singer duties with me on Lil Red Riding Hood, and does all the vocal parts on God Gave Us Friends (Words from a traditional poem; I composed the tune.)

Les Kitchings (Co-Owner of Bomark Studios) shares the lead with me on “Take This Job and Shove It”.

Also contributing lead guitar on “Take This Job” is the great country singer and guitarist Gene Avey.

Thanks to all for their contributions.

It may seem counter-intuitive considering the nature of my voice, however, the louder you play this music, the better it will sound.
