Yngve (pronounced Ing-vuh)

Born in Kaiserslautern, West Germany, Yngve Wieland moved to Ireland in the eighties with his parents in search of a richer, simpler, organic lifestyle; and they found it in northwest Sligo. He has been applauded as an outstanding musician and has found his voice writing his own material. He has an astonishing ability to strip down songs to the most honest lyrics and delicate guitar hooks and then instantly switch back to robust and powerful guitar chords. Whichever way he plays he doesn''t fail to enrapture his audience.

Yngve has shared billings with an array of Ireland''s less orthodox artists, including Jape, Katell Keineg, Nina Hynes, and Alphastates. He released his Debut Studio EP ''Four Weeks'' in 2005 with the promotional tour culminating in a Headline Show in Whelans in Dublin in August 2005. Since then he has played show''s in Scotland, including the Launch of the Glasgow/Edinburgh Music Magazine ''The Skinny Mag'' and played special guest slots with Irish Artists David Kitt and Turn.

In December 2005 he supported Paul Weller in Dublin''s Olympia Theatre and in January 2006 his song "Easier for You" was featured on the Irish Soap ''Fair City'' with 3 other songs from ''Four Weeks'' also being played on NAtional Television. ''Easier for You'' also appears on the Gigsmart Compilation CD "The Compilation Returns" which was launched in the Temple Bar Music Centre in Dublin last October and is available in all good Irish Music Stores.

Yngve is currently working on his Debut Album and will be touring across Ireland and the UK in the coming months with a tour planned for America in the Autumn of 2006.

Response to "Four Weeks" Release:
"...shades of early Bright Eyes and David Kitt...manages to draw the listener in with his wistful vocals and stripped back guitar hooks."

Steve Cummins
HOTPRESS July 2005

"… has ''radio air-play'' written all over it and could well be one to look out for. Touching on everything from the Goo-Goo Dolls, Cold Play and Damien Rice, Yngve takes a winning formula and still manages to come away sounding different from the rest."

"Light and airy, sad without being maudlin, rockin'' drums and lifting guitars, this is good stuff from a young musician just starting out."

Orla Murphy
The Scene, May 2005

"Blues blood flows through Yngve''s veins"

Robert Cullen
Sligo Weekender, April 2005
