Details:
Whoever coined the phrase, “only the strong survive,” obviously had Bay Area rap entrepreneur David Martin, also known as Mardoe, in mind. Growing up in Antioch, California, the suburbs of San Francisco and Oakland, Mardoe spent much of his free time listening to rap pioneers such as Too Short, E-40, and Mac Dre. Like many young adults, frustrations and anger filled his path over his parents’ recent separation, but he channeled it though the use of pen and paper. This new found passion of his soon effectuated his first album, “The Last Call.” Not long after and through sheer ingenuity he was able to collaborate on the song, “Pimp Thangs,” with Mac Dre and further enhance his creation of music on a daily basis.

After years of living on his own and striving to keep himself afloat, music was still his main goal. While most people worked a nine to five and lived for the weekend, Mardoe worked a nine to five for the five to nine. Slaving to his master, music, he spent many nights in the studio until all hours creating his next masterpiece. “The After Party,” was his next album he produced and with it, came some success and many local shows, but always wanting more, Mardoe persisted on to keep his dream alive.

While his own music was his immediate priority, he managed to get together with many other rappers to join forces in making new songs. While continuing to promote “The After Party,” as well as starting to craft new concepts for his next album, “The Fever,” Mardoe was staying true to the game. Not long after he finished “The Fever,” he went on tour as a result of enough generated buzz through Myspace.
Wanting to make a name for himself, Mardoe relocated to Los Angeles to continue promoting his self-produced albums. Whether it is collaborating with collective souls and artist or spitting versus in the studio, Mardoe’s easily relatable lyrics have forced their way inside the heads of everyone who hears them. Through the use of social media outlets and pure street hustle, he has been able to amass thousands of friends and contacts that eagerly wait his next big thing.
