Details:
One of a kind, a step back in time with the lovely songs of "old Hawaii! Henry is doubling himself over on his Fender double eight string "String Master" that was especially built for him in the 70''s for his going back and playing the Hawaiian Steel Guitar of which he had put away for over 30 years! Upon moving back to Maui, he saw the need to play, produce and write and publish good Hawaiian Music so he asked Fender Company to build him one as they had quit building steels as their popularity had declined.
Henry is the last living master of what is called "touch and tone". His sound is the Hawaiian Sound and he has the Hawaiian touch, which you can hear in his mastery of the chord progressions and his use of the steel Bar, like no other! Bar none! A very close friend, A.D. Norton, "Andy", who is his lifetime video tographer, asked for him to do this CD at his studio in San Francisco.
There is a story behind this recording and I will tell it here so you know how this Cd almost never came to be produced! Henry is an "Enrichment Specialist" for the cruise ships of Celebrity. He sails on the Hawaii and South Pacific Cruises when they are sailing to Hawaii and the Pacific and he does music presentations and performs with the ships 8 piece orchestras.
Andy wanted us to come up to San Francisco after one such cruise and do this CD in the dead of winter! Our ship stopped in Encinnada, Mexico, on this sail and we got off and were walking through he town to find a store open in which we could purchase a fine bottle of Mexico''s top Tequila! In doing so, Henry fell into a construction site and sprained his wrist and hand, and it was his guitar playing hand!We drove from the post of Los Angeles on 105 up to Piedmont where Andy''s home is on the mountain side there. It took three days for his hand''s swelling to reside so he could play the steel guitar to do this album! Thanks to Andy and his wife, Patsy, with their skills, he was able to do so. It was so cold in San Francisco, at the studio we had the blast from the heaters on the whole time to keep warm! What an experience!
