Details:
Many Faces by Paul Blanchard is a compilation of old and new, happy and sad, and ballads and rockers. It could easily have been entitled “Many Moods”, as the album is something of a journey through the human experience. While each song is unique, they all offer a good dose of melody and have an approachability that is uncommon among modern music. One may be reminded of another time when listening to this album - a time when musicians were free to create without the pressures of corporate interests, when music was pure and without pretense. Paul Blanchard performs each track with care and versatility, providing all of the instrumentation – except for “Not Take It Easy” featuring Jim Walter on slide guitar.
The course of the album begins with a tale of finding hope within darkness on “Die In Dallas”, and moves on to the poignant musing of “Internet Life”. “I Can Make The Scene” is an introspective look at the outside world, while “Folk Singer” takes a tongue-in-cheek slant at the author through another artist''s eyes. The album then carries on with several more tunes, including the raucous “Gasoline” and “Not Take It Easy”, and the haunting melodies of “Vines” and “Mind Set”.
