Biography-

Roads are a three-piece from Dorset who have been playing together since first picking up their instruments at school.
They have followed a similar path to The Police, occupying the middle ground between reggae and rock, but have added occasional African rhythms, while the lyrical content of the songs reflect the band''s social conscience.

The Roads debut album, Breaking In, was released in 2004 on their own label, Roadhouse records. One of the tracks was featured on Land Of Saints - a Cornish Surf Movie.

Roads based themselves in Devon for a year in 2004 in order to focus on songwriting, recording and gigging. After a number of gigs with guest musicians at the start of the summer, they began establishing an identity as a three-piece band. This goal came to fruition at the end of the year when Roads were acknowledged at two separate Battle of the Bands competitions, winning in Bristol and taking second place in Newquay.

Roads are now selling the second album, Come On Come Over, which was recorded in Devon and represents the development of the band as a three-piece.

Plans are being made to record the latest material after the summer, pending release early next year.

ALBUM REVIEW STRANGER MAGAZINE

"This Dorset three-piece recorded this beauty in a caravan, in a field on the fringe of Dartmoor.

Taking inspiration from their rural surroundings, this is a collection of honest songs, written and played with warmth and dexterity.

Percussive hints of African and reggae rhythms and a distinct lyrical theme of optimism, concern and love; this is organically good music and no mistake!"

GIG REVIEW IN LARMER TREE DAILY

"...blend of beautifully melodic reggae and subtle jazz-funk... succeeded in getting everyone nicely in the groove... Don''t miss them"

REVIEW FROM VIBRAPHONIC FM RADIO

"Accomplished delicate harmonies; the instruments fit snugly together like a dove tailed joint of a lovingly made table or chair...Those harmonies add that unquantifiable magic and emotive expression that denotes heartfelt endeavours.

This is music that has inherent honesty - both in the songwriting approach, lyrical exchange and overall direction. It has SOUL and is the work of a BAND - it''s that simple; how can so many people get it so wrong?!

Love songs, protest songs - just SONGS with integrity. A creative marriage between 3 like minded individuals who are blatantly on a shared visionary wavelength of no-nonsense musical creation."
