"For the mystic harmony
Linking sense to sound and sight"--Folliot Pierpont
HEARTS CONTENT is named after Track 13, a song by Roberta Schultz about a stand of old growth forest trees in Pennsylvania. Because she and her husband got lost finding the camp ground at HEARTS CONTENT, their vacation journey became a spiritual metaphor for Schultz years later.
"I remember how the camp host came tumbling out of his RV to greet us after we''d spent several hours backtracking on a road ominously called Route 666. We told him laughingly that ''ya can''t get there from here!'' and he responded with, ''no, there aren''t any shortcuts.'' Those words came back to haunt me many times in the difficult years to come."
The result is a song about finding the metaphorical HEARTS CONTENT and a CD about the content of three women''s hearts.
"This CD is in danger of having a theme,"laughs Schultz,"in that each song we chose is connected to something we cherish. For example: family, Mother Earth, Shakespeare, swing music, hot beverages, and Dolly Parton."
HEARTS CONTENT features guest musicians Danny Wilson on electric bass and Randy(Mando Rando) Brewer on mandolin. Designer, Freddie Thoman, did the Victorian valentine cover art and photos.
Trio members Violet Rae Downey, Vickie Ellis, and Roberta Schultz contribute their usual strong three-part harmony arrangements backed by their own piano, guitar, percussion, banjo, banjovie, and six-string mandolin accompaniment,
HEARTS CONTENT is a valentine to all those who''ve "got the heart." Raise on!
