ROCK: Folk Rock, FOLK: Traditional Folk
Details:
Hailing from Portland, OR, Rum Rebellion is a peppery mix of Irish tunes, sea chanties, and oi!/punk rock, served up to you with a distinctive pirate twist. We are heavier than the Pogues, more aggressive than Flogging Molly, and more traditional than The Dropkick Murphys.
Above all, it is the maritime influence in our songwriting that separates us from other bands in related genres. We promise a high-energy set full of up-tempo, swashbuckling singles that will get the audience moving on the dance floor and buying drinks at the bar.
Rum Rebellion began as a group of friends who got together for casual nights of playing tunes together. Momentum built until Rum Rebellion officially formed as a band in March ''05. At that point, we played totally acoustic sets of Irish traditional music. During the summer of ''05, we added electric bass and a rock drummer to the band, and became what most of our fans know as Rum Rebellion today. We began writing our own tunes, recording, and playing gigs throughout the Pacific Northwest. Since January ''06, we have recorded a four-song EP and have just released this 11-track CD - Cruisin'' For A Boozin''
