''Red Taurus'' started out in 1995 by a group of like-minded musician friends who share a common love for music. The band is made up of six talented individuals from different parts of Asia : Jason Ho (guitars & synthesizer), the band leader, is from Singapore; ''Alex'' D Katsumata (bass) is from Japan; Pao Yen (flute, saxophone & cello) is from Hong Kong; and Dylan ''Baba'' Lye (guitars) Hassan Musafer (drums) and ''DC'' Wijesinha (percussion) are from Sri Lanka.
The music of ''Red Taurus'' is a subtle fusion of flamenco, latin and jazz. This interesting combination is a result of the different musical backgrond and styles of the band members, which lends a very distinctive sound and unique identity that is ''Red Taurus''. The band performs regularly in jazz clubs, arts houses and music lounges throughout Hong Kong, and has also performed in Singapore, Macau and China. One of the highlights of the band is a jam in Hong Kong with jazz great Nathan East.
''Red Taurus 2005'' is the band''s debut album, a collection of original tunes composed over the years. To date, this album best represents the band''s work, which is best described as melodic, evocative, ethereal and sometimes meditational. This CD is best enjoyed during long haul trips, lazy Sunday afternoons, countryside drives, or in the solitude of your private apartment.
