November 4th, 1981 was the birth and beginning of Algemon Winfrey, who is also known as 1000 Bars. Born and raised in Flint, Mi. Bars experienced and seen a lot at a young age. Currently at the age of 23 after an easy high –school Career, a couple of court cases and a bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Michigan University, Bars is on his way to the top.
When Bars was 8 years old, he first realized music was something he wanted to do. By riding around with his older brother in flashy cars with music banging in his ears, Bars developed a style of his own by listening to
Various Artist such as Nas, Jay-z,and 2-Pac were just a few of the artists who inspired Bars to rap. At the age of 10 Bars and his cousin formed a group called’ To Hard Youth’ with a slight buzz going on in Flint, the group manager was close to closing a deal with Tommy Boy Records but somehow it didn’t turn out positive.
As the years went by Bars stayed writing and rapping against other rappers in his neighborhood and city. He also performed in local talent shows and high school events. At the age of 16 Bars and his boys from the neighborhood formed a group called Bread Thoro. The group consisted of five members, Banzi, Mass Money, Chino, Apolo, and of coarse 1000 Bars himself.1000 Bars and a couple of his boys created their own record label, called “Family over Riches Entertainment”. By opening up for different major artists such as Fabulous, Too-Short, The Clipse, Ludacris, D-12, and a few others, 1000 Bars and the group gained a lot of exposure.
Bars was well known and respected in the streets as an intelligent hustler. He was called that because of the way he could hold his weight down in the streets and get money while he was attending collage. Bars first passion was basketball, but due to the fast money he made in the streets he turned down a scholarship out of state and stayed close to home attending Eastern Michigan University. In 2004, 1000 Bars received his Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing.
In October 2004 Bars became the C.E.O and co-owner of what is soon to become one of the biggest record labels in the world, Dope Boy Records. After re-uniting with his older cousin James ‘Jody’ Arnold, they decided to create another label in addition to Family over Riches Entertainment. Currently Bars has turned down a few deals patiently waiting for the right major to come and experience the next biggest thing in hip-hop. With his singles, “Give me the night” and “Ahh”, spinning on a selective few of radio stations and energizing club crowds, “Bars is on his way to success. The intelligent street king 1000 Bars Stated, “I’m ready for the industry after years of dedication and mistakes I finally defined my self. I feel like music was a blessing for me, I’m comfortable with it and I enjoy it. One way or the other I’m going to make my presence felt in this music game.” If you haven’t heard about 1000 Bars, eventually you will because soon he’ll be on top!
