The INIO Music debut of one of the greatest saxophonists to call Austin, Texas home: the one and only Tomas Ramirez. Ramirez has played and recorded with the likes of Eric Johnson, Jerry Jeff Walker, Doug Del Santo and the Professors of Pleasure, Barry Richman, Jeff Sipe, and too many others to name here. On this cd, recorded summer 2007 in Atlanta with a bunch of "Hampton Family" (meaning alumni of various bands led by avante-garde bandleader, Col. Bruce Hampton) : Marcus Williams (drums), Neal Fountain (bass), Steve Cunningham (guitar and lap steel), and Tom Grose (keyboards--the one "non-Hamptonian") with Count M''Butu (yet another "Hamptonian", formerly of Aquarium Rescue Unit and the Derek Trucks Band) guesting on percussion. Elements of jazz, funk, rock, and blues, plus great compositions and off-the-charts musicality of the band makes this an incredible, must-have cd.
