Chris Head – Vocals & Guitar
Growing up on the outskirts of Louisville, Kentucky, Chris Head was raised on a steady diet of country and popular music. While neither one of them were musicians, Chris considers himself lucky to have had parents that truly loved all musical styles. It was common for the Head’s stereo to play George Jones’ latest hit followed by Nat King Cole’s, followed by Buck Owens’, followed by The Beatles and so on, and so on… music was a huge part of life Head household and set the tone for Chris’s eclectic songwriting style.
After years of playing cover music up and down CA., Chris decided in 2004 to focus exclusively on his own songs. For the next three years, Chris wrote extensively, while also fine tuning his singing and playing. In 2007, Chris began advertising for musicians interested in playing original music. The first and only bass player to respond was Kevin Beers. The two musicians immediately clicked, and TankHalfFull was born.
Kevin Beers – Bass
Kevin Beers began his musical career, playing trumpet in elementary, middle, and high school bands. Kevin took an early interest in jazz music, which greatly broadened his ear and interest in harmony from an instrumental standpoint. Kevin took up bass guitar when he was 16, which quickly became his musical passion. While Kevin continued to play guitar, trumpet, etc. Bass quickly became his main instrument.
Kevin played in various bands both during and after college. After settling down to raise his family, Kevin took a break from playing live, putting his efforts and time into writing, arranging, and honing his playing.
In 2007, Kevin pursued an interest to perform original acoustic music. He became acquainted with Chris Head and together they formed TankHalfFull. Kevin’s musical influences include Wilco, Peter Himmelman, Dave Matthews Band & Neil Young.
Bob Willett – Harmonica…. lots of em!
Bob Willett has been around music all his life…he grew up in San Francisco in the 50-60’s seeing and listening to all the top bands in the history of Rock, Blues and Folk music. At a young age, Bob started playing music as a hobby, with focus on piano. Bob soon gave that up for an instrument he could always carry with him... the harmonica.
Since picking up the harp, Bob has trained and played with the best harp players throughout the Bay Area.
Harp players Norton Buffalo, Lil Walter, Muddy Waters, Mark Hummel, James Cotton, and Charlie Musselwhite have and continue to inspire Bob’s playing. Bob’s ability to play all types of music, from Folk, Country, Blues and Rock made him a perfect fit for TankHalfFull, when he joined the group in 2008. If Bob isn’t playin’ music, you can bet he’s listening to it somewhere around the Bay Area.
