Details:
Swedish jazz great Krister Andersson is back after a ten-year hiatus and releases this outstanding live concert, featuring his quartet with pianist Bo Skuba, bass player Filip Augustsson and drummer Ali Djeridi. The concert was recorded live in Swedish town Sandviken in April 2010 and is noted for a remarkably intuitive interplay that happily ended up on this album.

Krister Andersson, born 1951, was discovered as an exceptional musical prodigy already as a youth. His natural ability on the clarinet, first and foremost in the classical vein, brought him to the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, after which he quickly went on to become a prize-winning soloist and toured internationally with highly acclaimed orchestras. Among his merits was his brief but important stint with legendary conductor Leonard Bernstein in America, who openly acknowledged Andersson''s outstanding talent. By his twenties, Andersson shifted focus to the tenor sax and moved into the realm of jazz, showcasing an equally extraordinary prowess for improvised music. His expertise quickly put him in league with the topmost stars of jazz in Sweden at the time, and by becoming a much sought-after session musician and soloist, he also participated in numerous Swedish jazz recordings that have become classics. Subsequently, Andersson established himself as one of Europe''s leading exponents of jazz tenor sax, above all exploring a neo-bop vein, in developing an inventive, technically brilliant, harmonically complex and energetic style of improvisation.

Over the last two decades, Andersson has preferred to perform with his own jazz quartet, during which time he released two remarkably fine albums, Krister Andersson And Friends (1986 Dragon Records) and About Time (1994 Flash Music), both earning the desirable Swedish Gyllene Skivan-award.

Other significant studio albums are Intromotion (1997 LCM Records), as featured soloist with E.S.T. (Esbjörn Svensson Trio), and Catching The Moment (2001 Dragon Records), in a duo setting with bass player Bengt Hansson. The most recent incarnation of the quartet, including pianist Bo Skuba, bass player Filip Augustsson and drummer Ali Djeridi, recorded Live for Do Music Records in 2010.
