Details:
7Suns is a group of London based musicians whose music is an energizing blend of Afro, Latin, Carribean, Funk, Jazz & Rock. This purely instrumental group''s strong melodies and up-tempo rhythms are played with a deliciously danceable quality and fantastic rock intensity. Founding member and composer Jay Furnival draws his eclectic style from the carnival culture that surrounded him growing up on the council estates of Brixton South London. 7Suns have been an active playing group since November of 2005 and have flourised as their new and exciting musical direction has emerged.

Their debut EP is a musical journey that tells the story of rhythm. Starting in Africa the music travels over the Atlantic to the Caribbean and on to North and South America. The EP features a 10 piece band including vibraphone, digeridoo, horn section, and a wide range of percussion. This is their tribute to the most important aspect of their music...Rhythm

Ethnomusicology Part 1
This track sums up the whole theme of Ethnomusicology, the sounds that are created when you blend music over time.

Luanda
This is where the journey begins, from Luanda to Bahia, Africa to Brasil. Pounding rhythms and pentatonic horns portraying the heart of Africa merge with samba - the evolution of the sound - after its journey west.

Lalin
Haitian creole for moon "Lalin" celebrates the sound of the Caribbean which seaped its way into the Cresent City "New Orleans" the birth place of Jazz. Lalin is about a woman of Haiti who found her home in the Big Easy.

Funktuno
Comes from the same place as Boogaloo, African American soul and Latin American montuno. This groove laden track emphasizes how far the music of Africa has travelled, with a glimpse of the dance music of 70s 80s and 90s that it played such a heavy part in creating... and the story goes on.

Intro and interlude
Tying together the theme, spoken word artist Asabi takes on the role of music itself to express the stories and emotions of the people, the passion and will of human beings making the most of their situations and finding enjoyment in the beauty of music passed on and ever evolving.
