Details:
Jacob Fannin was born and raised in the small Northeast Wisconsin town. The fourth oldest of eleven kids, Jacob took to singing at an early age. Jake’s dad was a bass guitarist in a popular local band while his mother was an accomplished performance pianist; thus making music an integral part of the family’s upbringing. “I learned to sing before anything else, and that was my mom’s doing,” Jake said. “She knew what she was talking about, and she always played and let us kids sing whenever we wanted. So even though it was all fun, we were constantly getting instruction and always learning while we were raised.”

Jake said he always knew that music would be a PART of his life… but it wasn’t until his senior year of high school when he found out music was going to BE his life. “It was weird, because, we were putting on a musical my senior year of high school and I was lucky enough to land one of the lead roles. It was really the first time that I had been on a stage and the lights were completely on me and I had the entire audience’s attention for an extended period of time. It was the coolest feeling.” Jake claims that because of this, he skipped over the ‘career-burden’ most high-schoolers face. “Definately, most kids go through a time of ‘What do I want to do with my life?’ and whatnot… and after that opening night, I just said “Alright, that was easy… I have to sing.”

After graduating high school in the Spring of 2003, Jacob enrolled at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, where he quickly found his niche as an artist. “I didn’t really start playing any instruments until my freshman year at college. I was living with my older brother, who has an acoustic guitar, and I was watching a show that had Eric Clapton playing ‘Tears in Heaven’ and I wanted to learn how to play it. So I picked up his guitar and taught myself. It took forever to learn.” Jacob spent countless nights and early college mornings creating his own catalog of music, which ultimately led to a solo-acoustic album he recorded on campus in Oshkosh. "I was able to find a student on campus who was looking for recording work so we got together and over the course of a few months we were able to put together a dozen or so songs that I had been working on."

"Upside Down" was released in August of 2007, featuring 12 original songs. "I look back at it now and smile because I have grown so much as a songwriter and musician and I can''t wait for everyone to hear some of this new material... but that CD means so much to me because it really symbolizes the hard work and long road that went into making it. Not only making the CD, but really "making it" as a musician. It''s been a long, long road and one that I''ve been on almost entirely by myself, but that is also the beauty of it. Music is personal. Sure, the compliments are wonderful and when someone drops a dollar into your guitar case when you are playing in the streets it is fun ... but there has to be a deeper meaning behind your drive. Ultimately, that is what I want people to take from whatever it is I write or sing. Find the thing that you love, open up your heart, and give everything you have to it. Like everything else, it is going to hurt sometimes... but those trials are minimal compared to the amazing things will happen. "

Jacob independently released the first single "Lemonade" off of his new album on December 25th, 2010.
