This album was recorded in 13 hours on December 18 in our friend''s shed turned studio just outside of Monroe,NC. December 18 is ofcourse the day Monroe was over run with a menacing zombie horde. Unlike most zombie outbreaks which start with a single infected victim the occurences on the 18th happened when a truck full of the undead heading to a research facility hit a stray squirrel and flipped over. The ghouls flew from the vehicle like hornets from a hive. It took only a few short hours for the zombies to over take the small Carolina town. Unaware of the carnage happening just a few minutes away the modrats recorded the album "Set Your Phazers to FUN". Several hours into the recording the once living had limped their way out into the country and were scraping at the doors of the small shed. Determined to finish their nerd rock magnum opus the band launched into action. By taking turns crushing zombie skulls and recording their individual tracks the modrats emerged victorious just a few hours latter. Dripping zombie blood and with a new CD in their hands the modrats set out into the world ready to spread their own brand of angry nerd rock.
