The Monterey Peninsula Choral Society is a non-profit, volunteer community chorus, performing each year since 1962. It is our mission to provide a pleasurable choral singing experience for our members and audiences, and to offer opportunities for our members to grow musically.
We are currently conducted by Sean Boulware
We enrich the culture of the community at large by offering audiences a varied and well-performed repertoire of choral music, collaborating with other performing arts groups, and supporting musical training for our members.
The Society presents two themed concerts annually, featuring popular music in the spring and a holiday program in December.
We differ from other local choruses by providing an environment in which both novice and experienced singers can develop their skills, and by presenting a variety of music rather than all-classical pieces.
SEAN BOULWARE is a sought after conductor, adjudicator, clinician and vocalist throughout the United States and Europe. Sean is in demand as a consultant for choral organizations in the areas of chorus management and audience development. Sean has prepared choruses for conductors including, John Alexander, Keith Lockhart and John Rutter. He has also prepared choirs to sing with Josh Groban, Michael McDonald, and Tommy Simms. Sean appears regularly at Carnegie Hall and just made his debut at Lincoln Center in May 2010. Sean has conducted internationally in England, Scotland, Ireland, Austria, The Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Brazil, and Japan. Sean’s choirs can be heard at https://www.tradebit.com, and he has been honored by American Idol Underground as the conductor for the most requested/downloaded Classical Group for 2005-2007.
As a vocalist, Sean has appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony, New England Symphonic Ensemble, Los Angeles Renaissance Consort and others. He has toured nationally with productions of “Les Miserables” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Locally, Sean has appeared with several groups including ICantori and Opera Project Carmel. He also enjoys performing in local theater productions.
Sean is currently the Director of Worship at Carmel Presbyterian Church in Carmel, CA where he lives with his wife, Michelle, also a Choral Conductor, and his 2 Sons. Sean is also the conductor of the Monterey Peninsula Choral Society. He has studied with such notable conductors as Dr. Lynn Bielefelt, Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt, James Levine, Dr. James Jordan, Rodney Eichenberger, John Alexander, Paul Mayo and Shirley Nute.
