Marva Mortley''s Biography
Marva Mortley was raised in a God-fearing Christian home. Her gift of song was revealed to her, early in life. She made her solo debut in a “Daughters of the King” concert at the tender age of seven. Since then, she has continuously served the Lord in music ministry with a variety of groups.
As a child in the children’s choir of Christian Fellowship Seventh-day Adventist of Brooklyn, New York she sang gleefully. While growing in the Lord she became bold in performing solos in her pre-teen years. Then as a teenager she sang with the ensemble “New Generation,” who became known as the “Simuel Stevenson Singers.” She also sang in her church’s Youth & Young Adult Choir formly known as “Ministry of Hope.” When she attended Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, she performed with the famed Oakwood College Choir, the prestigious “Aeolins,” and the “Dynamic Praise Gospel Choir.” For several years she ministered with “Dickson Guilluame & The New York State Haitian Interdenominational Mass Choir. On the HIM second album she renders her solo on the title track “Just Because.” Most recent, she sang for a time with His Way Missionary Choir formerly known as The Dynamic Voices of New York.” which traveled to Europe and ministered in Holland and Germany.
In 2006 she was a semi-finalist for the Kraft Gospel and FOCUS in conjunction with WORD Network competitions. February 2008 she sets out to fund-raise the monies needed to complete her album and truly grateful for the support she received and the blessings other gained.
Presently, she actively serves as Associate Music Minister, choir member and praise team member at Christian Fellowship.
It’s her personal belief that more than ever, nations are thirsting for the Word of God. Before it’s too late, it is her prayer that people will listen to, abide in the overflowing power of the Holy Spirit and be transformed. Through her ministry it is her ultimate goal to be a vessel that pours “Living Water” to quench thirsty souls.
