This diverse band of Cuban cats (but for Memphis trumpeter King who’s
long history with legends of the genre makes him “Oficial de Katanga”)
has been together many years, and it shows. Tight, fresh arrangements
and an excellence of performance is striking on this 4th band recording
and especially at the live shows, when typically long sets are woven with
qualities of improvised design, both exciting & soulful, leaving audiences
dancing, laughing & listening with delight. Led by Eddy Balzola on guitar,
lead vocals and most songs & arrangements, Oriente the band includes
Yoel Del Sol on multi-percussion/voc, Pepe Aparicio on bass/voc, Stuart
King on trumpet/perc, William Paredes on trombone/perc/voc and on trap
drums/perc/voc Orlando Machado.
