I stumbled upon one of those many shops with random key rings and fridge magnets with whimsical sayings that you usually buy people when you''re on holiday and can''t think what else to take them back as a gift!! There was one key ring which suggested that a parent is equally both the best and worst influence on their child, because with all their knowledge and experience, they can''t help but also impart their own fears, opinions etc. Struck me as an interesting observation. It was never a conscious decision to write a song about it - just sort of happened!
