Lee''s Electric Flute

Lee McClure''s self-designed Electric Flute is a silver flute played through a microphone into twelve foot-activated processors and a sampler. From low to high notes, its range is equal to that of the piano. It can produce repeating delays, electric guitar distortion, 6-part harmonies, and extreme pitch bending. The sampler enables the live build-up of multiple layers of music and sound effects. Styles vary from dark industrial environments and Heavy Metal rock to Jazz, pastoral Impressionism and ambient collages.

The Trio

As a composer, arranger, Electric Flutist, and impresario, LEE McCLURE produced the 2008 CD: A Jazz Christmas Like You''ve Never Heard featuring Chris Hunter (saxes) and Margaret Dorn (vocals). It was heard on 40 radio stations around the U.S. and received 20 plays in two weeks in Chicago on WDCB. The Eclectix Chamber Orchestra''s premiere of McClure''s composition, HIATUS, won the praise of The New York Times’ critic Tim Page, who declared: "It was probably the most distinguished piece on the program: the harmonies had bite and the musical ideas seemed both organic and Mr. McClure''s own." Lee is the founder and director of the new-music concert series Eclectix, which has presented over 100 living composers in New York City. The New York Times has described Eclectix as "a group dedicated to presenting melodic music in the tradition of Debussy, Gershwin, and Ellington — a lot of it by way of American popular culture." On Electric Flute, McClure provides all the music for the Eclectix Dance Company, whose most recent performance was for a capacity house at the Cutting Room (NYC).

Guitarist BARRY WEDGLE''s international career as composer and performer encompasses working with numerous renowned artists including Steve Lacy, Harry Belafonte and Sam Rivers. He has performed at major Jazz Festivals world-wide, recorded nine CDs of his own music, and wrote "This Girl" for vocalist Charito, which reached the the top of the Japanese jazz-pop charts. David Aaronson wrote in Jazz Hot Magazine (Paris, France): "His flamenco playing was good enough to tour extensively in Spain, Mexico, Central & South America for people who know the real deal. Harry Belafonte flew him to Toronto for a concert. Allen Ginsberg asked him to accompany readings more than 30 times. Taj Mahal invited him on stage at New Morning, in Paris. He recorded at Mount Fuji with the popular Japanese Rolling Club Band. What kind of guitar does Barry Wedgle play? A lot of guitar. I suggest you listen for a while and enjoy."

Percussionist EDDIE HALL started honing his recording skills in the early eighties at The Platinum Factory and Charlie''s Records, doing mostly Soca, R&B and Hip Hop recordings. He has worked extensively and recorded with Vernon Reid, Salaam Remy and Prince Charles Alexander. Eddie has played on tracks for Ricky Martin and Left Eye Lopes. He has performed on Broadway in The Lion King, and off-Broadway in The Harlem Nutcracker. Eddie''s film credits include Summer of Sam, and on TV, Lou Rawls’ Parade of Stars, ABC 20-20, It''s Show Time at the Apollo, and New York Undercover. Eugene Chadbourne from the All Music Guide has said about Eddie: “This excellent New York based percussionist has been coming on strong since he began working with ace guitarist Vernon Reid in the mid ''90s. A young audience came into contact with his sounds following several 2001 recordings with the late vocalist Lisa Lopes.”
