LANA 3 is a band from New York with many years of musical experience playing in the Upstate area. For 20+ years, cover bands had been the name of the game with these guys. Whether playing together or apart, electrically or acoustically, they have paid their dues on stage pleasing thousands of fans along the way. With unequalled dedication of weekly practicing, about 2 years ago, they decided to jam a bit, out of the blue, on whatever came to their minds. The juices that flowed that evening made them realize it was finally time to put their many diverse musical influences together to see what they could come up with. The climactic results in the ensuing year-and-a-half became the fresh new music currently before you. The 11 original songs take you on a musical roller coaster like one you’ve never been on. The excitement features precisely-calculated harmonies ala Boston, keyboard-driven melodies of 80’s pop-rockers The Cars, hard-edge pounding chords in the vein of AC/DC, as well as a Journey-esque power ballad tugging at your heartstrings. Michael Leonard is a vocalist that can soothe your soul with spine tingling precision, or make your heart race with edgy vocals inspired by the music of his youth. Along with his family, he grew up singing along to everything put forth to him on the AM/FM dial. His strong voice, with a wide range, is perfect from the softest whisper to the harshest howl. He has been sought out by many bands over the years only to stick around and enjoy himself with his “brothers”.
If you’re looking for an all-around musician, look no further. Mike Normandin is a master. Drums, guitar, bass and even keyboards make up his repertoire. This is his first recording showcasing his new-found guitar and bass demonstrations. His talents have been heard in many local cover bands as well as working with others on original tunes for over 20 years. The chops he possesses were honed at home with a family immersed in musical talent. Whether it is the tribal beat or the soft acoustic guitar, you’ll love the immense talent put on display for you to consume. Oh, and don’t forget his vocal harmonies.
The last of the creative minds is from another multi-instrumentalist. Rick Leonard has been singing and playing with his brother Michael since the days of their youth. The cool harmonies they create were strengthened on this project. The various talents he brings forth fill the voids and add texture to the unique arrangements and flowing melodies. The pianos, organs and synthesizers are all his. You may even catch a pan flute or dulcimer patch that will get you wondering of its origin. The saxophone, flute and percussion help round out the one-of-a-kind sound captured here.
