Danny Cockstar plays guitar in the Marones, a RAMONES tribute band in Lake Tahoe since 1999. Danny built up a stable of original, XXX rated songs about what happened during the long nights of boozing after the shows. Lake Tahoe is like Las Vegas, but the casinos are in an alpine setting. Danny Cockstar & the Money $hots officially became a band in 2003 when he brought together fellow musicians Ace Two Times (a.k.a. Nate Alcorn [Chop Tops, Devil Heads]) on the stand up bass and fellow Marone, Adam Marin (a.k.a. Juan Tabangya) on drums and played two unforgettable live shows. An underground adult DVD with five songs and one dancer was shot but never released. Danny Cockstar & the Money $hots have only played a handful of shows because of a limited audience in Lake Tahoe and lack of a proper stage to perform on.
Danny has said that he wants the stage show to be like a burlesque show with a live band.
"Each song has a story and I have the showgirls act out the story while the band plays. We need a big stage with props, a couple of spotlights and at least two showgirls/dancers to do it right. Ace and I could probably do ten shows a week in Las Vegas, but Lake Tahoe isn’t really hip or happening enough to pull this off. We don’t even have a strip club up here.”
The band still continues to gain fans that come to every show, singing along with the same lust and passion that inspired those very songs. In the summer of 2003 Danny and Ace recorded "Danny Cockstar & the Money $hots- Live From Hellywood" as a three piece band. It was released to a limited audience. Danny made the decision to release the next full length album (due 2011) as a comedy record, trying to gain a bigger audience.
"Each song is like a dirty joke. It has some bizarre sex story and then the punch line hits you in the chorus. I even have burlesque dancers helping me with vocals. It''s all set to rock ''n roll music, but the songs are basically hard rockin'' dirty jokes. Andrew ‘Dice’ Clay was huge, and he didn’t have a rock band and burlesque dancers on stage with him.”
Danny isn''t one to kiss and tell, but most of these songs are true thanks to the Lakeside Casino’s $2 drink policy and the great State of Nevada’s lack of a last call. C’mon out to a show or try and find the adult DVD to witness the debauchery.
