The Bean Pickers Union take a break from their usual fare of murder ballads and tales of despair to give us a largely instrumental collection of Americana lullabies. Inspired by the arrival of his beautiful new niece, Lydia, songwriter Chuck Melchin hunkered down in the small studio in his 1830’s New England farmhouse and wrote and recorded these stark and peaceful tunes. Performed simply on acoustic guitar, mandolin and hammered dulcimer, this EP will sooth inner children from Appalachia to the Cascades.
