Those are the words of Daniel Roberts, the guitarist and band leader for Band of Brothers. Together with his brothers, Luke and Michael, Daniel has driven Band of Brothers to search hard for life and to present their art in the most straight forward, powerful and uplifting way they can find. The world has plenty of darkness, but that does not mean we cannot look to the future with hope. Growing up playing music in a church where many hurting people go, Daniel, Luke and Michael have developed a deep care for the world and those around them. “We want to make a real difference. We’re not sure what that means yet, except that it includes facing life with honesty and sharing it deeply with others” says Daniel.
Band of Brothers'' artistic influences range across a wide pallet of styles from rockabilly to Peter Gabriel. But for this album, they chose to focus on a smaller range of styles. You can hear Eric Johnson in some of the bell-like guitar parts in “Are You Here” and there is a clear influence from Toto’s guitarist, Steve Lukather in the solo from “Take My Hand”. “Coldplay, The Police and Eric Johnson were major influences on this album” says Daniel. The influence from The Police comes through very powerfully in “Time”. “Turn Me Around” a song strongly influenced by Coldplay and written by Luke, took Band of Brothers to new heights when it won the international songwriting competition, YobiSing – which took them to the Grammys.
