Indie rock music is hardly something you''d expect from artist Gary Zon. At age nine, the Siberian-born musician made the move from Russia to the United States with his parents. By age nineteen, he was signed out of the blue by Metropolis Records in the US and Dependent Records in Europe with his undergound electronic project "Dismantled." By age twenty two, after two albums, numberous "Artist Of The Month" mentions in German press (Zillo / Sonic Seducer) and praises by Davey Havok of AFI, Gary was ready for something new. Enter Aerodrone.
Conceived as an escape from the confines of underground electro and the dull surroundings of Oregon, Aerodrone took off after Gary assembled a band of musicians to play his recorded computer demos. After a series of shows with such acts as The Lashes, Spill Canvas, The Thermals, and Horse The Band, radio appearances on University of Oregon''s college station KWVA 88.1 and a self-produced demo EP, Aerodrone''s indie rock dance blitz took Eugene''s local scene by surprise with their dance-pop stage show, and catchy, synth-driven hooks that have refused to leave the listener''s head.
While University Of Oregon''s newstands screamed "''Aerodronemania'' Rocks The Northwest" (Oregon Daily Emerald, 11/17/05) the band quietly regrouped with a new lineup and recorded "The Spin EP" with drummer Adrian White whose past talents include Reset (before they became Simple Plan), Strapping Young Lad, and Delerium. The success of the new recordings has landed Aerodrone as a "Featured MySpace" band, resulting in over 25,000 plays on MySpace and #1 standings on the New Wave Charts. After a show at The Viper Room in LA, Aerodrone continunes to press on with a West Coast tour marked for December.
