Von Knasick is an eclectic musical project with an edge that delves into a diverse range from New Age instrumental works to edgy Electronica, as well as collaboration with the band Gravity Wave for an even heavier sound.
The concept for the album "Celtic Dawn" owes its origins in what the late Martyn Bennett was broaching with his instrumental albums in the 1990s, that is to bring traditional Celtic music into a digital realm. Von Knasick began the album with a song dedicated to the greatest Celtic band, The Chieftains. The genesis of the Celtic genre spreading throughout the world and enriching the lives of those within, and outside of Ireland, begins with them.
The rest of these folk songs commemorate people, battles, struggles, and human emotion, as Celtic music does so well. Of special note is the reel set “Stephen Colbert Goes To Washington: Lads Of Laois / Morning Dew,” is dedicated to the greatest Irish-American satirist and protector of democracy, Dr. Stephen Colbert. Then there is “Wo ist sie, sie ist Dagmar” which is a more typical original Von Knasick song and is included as a bonus track.
Music is both spiritual and medicinal and like medicine, it should be accessible and priced for the masses hence the low retail price.
The inspiration for the sound of Von Knasick is to blend the strength and melodic layering of bands like: Venom, Iron Maiden, Paradise Lost, Linkin Park, and Black Sabbath, with the rich textures of Celldweller, Criss Angel, Lady Gaga, and Yanni.
