Oh! Another band-biography huh!? Well, THIS ONE is worth reading!

December 2007. Christmas time. Swedish cult metal band Skellington release their long awaited debut album "Last Human Standing" which surprisingly went directly to No 1 (!) at the big Scandinavian Megastores website as "Most Bought Heavy Metal Album" - and it also debuted as No 12 at their actual Top 20 List of "Most Bought Albums" (all genres!) right behind legendary Bruce Springsteen and many other world fameous artists! And hey, this is a band that has no PR machinery or whatsoever to back them up - so one might wonder how this could be happening...!?

Formed in Stockholm, Sweden in the year 2000, Skellington is a metal/thrash/rock band that has developed an identity of their own throughout the years. Good reviews and a good reputation as an exploding live act on stage has given them an underground reputation - although mostly because of the bands early demos that has given them fans not only in Sweden but also in many other countries! (American radio played their demos early on, especially the internet radio stations!).

Always chosing to walk along their own path rather than following others, Skellington is best described by many as playing "SUPER-HEAVY-METAL" - and that kind of says it all! In lack of better words, they fill a gap in modern metal. A band that dares to NOT just follow trends all the time. Different. Yet, so very familiar.

Their underground reputation started right away with the very first Skellington demo, called "First Blood, First Demo", made in 2001. A well spread cult demo that included their former lead guitarist Bo "Chaq Mol" Karlsson - today a member of black metal gigants Dark Funeral - as well as the bands highly appreciated cult-cover of the old KISS classic "Love Gun". Made for just the fun of it, the KISS classic was not only re-arranged but also (kind of) re-translated and re-named into "Stor Kuk" - which simply put is swedish for Big Cock!;)

That "First Blood, First Demo" got great reviews in metal music magazines, and it slowly grew to become some kind of cult-phenomenon here and there in Sweden through InterNet. (It is even often played at big hockey arenas during the games in northern Sweden! What does the audience think of the dirty words one might think...;)

In 2002 Lead guitarist Bo "Chaq Mol" Karlsson went on to join Dark Funeral (and his own project Mordichrist). Skellington kept writing songs and shaping the band.
They also started playing live and slowly getting used to handle a stage. They did their "garage years" so to speak!

In 2004 an ambitious second demo was recorded live in the studio. It was actually recorded at Ulf Wahlbergs (of classic pop band Secret Service fame!) house. Now with only four members: Jac, Göran, Tommy and Andy K - and without no lead guitarist. The "Live in the Studio"-demo was actually a whole album concept demo of impressive 50 minutes! (Several of those songs later appeared on the debut album "Last Human Standing"!).

The final result was "OK", but it didnt really capture the true essence of Skellington. The band wanted to develope a darker, heavier and crunchier sound and felt they needed more guitars. They started a search for a new lead guitarist. It took a while, mostly because singer Jac Rytterholms father died and the band had a break. But in the summer of 2005 they found 19-year-old-talent Joakim Norlander on lead guitar.

The band could now start to approach their song material in a more proper way as always intended. After a fast recording in only two days in a rehearsal room Skellington released their third demo in March 2006: "Demo Diablo" - which were printed in 1000 copies and spread all over Sweden. Now, suddenly something was happening! The reputation of Skellington started to grow a hell of a lot more and it was a big step forward for Skellington, and they were now ready to take on their debut album!

On December 5th 2007 Skellington finally released their long awaited debut album "Last Human Standing" - which is A SMASHING EXPERIENCE for any true metal fan around the world! It is a "perfect mix of all things metal" and the album directly went No 1 at the big, fameous (Scandinavian) Megastores website as "Most Bought Heavy Metal CD", right before popular established bands like Hardcore Superstar, Nightwish, Helloween, Soilwork etc.

And. From out of nowhere Skellington also managed to keep that No 1 spot, as "Most Bought Heavy Metal CD", for a surprisingly four whole weeks in a row!!! More or less without any PR at all, so it was just based on their reputation alone! ("We were really surprised then. Really really fucking gladly surprised! A nice christmas for sure!").

The debut album "Last Human Standing" is packed with inspiration from the whole damn history of hard rock and heavy metal. It combines everything from 1972 til 2007 and Skellington succeed in putting together all their influences from the 70s, 80s, 90s and also up-date it with 21st century modern metal music into a package of their own. With their own signature all over it! The album breaks free from all the usual typical music business trends, and instead they make "metal music for metal heads" as they describe their own music. Other people describe it as "air guitar heaven" and simply prefer it with lots of beer!;)

In early 2008 drummer Andy K had to leave Skellington after 8 years due to personal reasons. The band made a goodbye gig with Andy K and then auditioned for a new drummer. They found Niklas Öberg, a 22-year-old talent that fit the band well. At the same time Skellington got problems with their record label during the big finance crisis of 2008, and a lot of important PR-plans had to be changed about the supporting and promotion of the debut album. (The album was in fact never released outside of Scandinavia! Not until January 25th 2011 through CD-Baby!).

While handling the record label problems, Skellington started to play a lot of gigs - more than ever! ("We played everywhere and anywhere, even in the Stockholm fameous archapellagos - and we were banned FOREVER for playing too loud and too wild!"). Slowly but steadily the band were building up a really great live act reputation. More and more people started to mention Skellington as "One of Sweden´s best live acts"!

But that special live energy and raw power of Skellington live on stage was never really caputered on the debut album. So the band started writing new song material for a second album, each one meant to finally catch the glory of Skellington as they are on stage: Raw, Wild, Primitive - with lots of fistpumping attitude and headbanging manners! Still in touch with their past influences and motto: "True metal music made for true metalheads!"

As this is written Skellington has already made a lot of brand new kick-ass demos, and the creation of A Great Metal Album is in the works!!! (Actually the band has so much new strong material that there have been serious talks of a possible double album in 2012!).

Skellington will enter the recording studio in early 2011 to record a new CD, planned to be digitally released worldwide through CD-Baby in May 2011!

And, this time, Skellington will take NO prisoners!!! You just wait and see...
