Details:
The story of Reed Lakes begins in Spokane circa 2008, where three friends from college began jamming together in a tiny room of a two story duplex near the university. Eventually, a rough demo of their songs was recorded as a part of Bradley’s senior project. At the time, they called themselves “Gayda,” an invented word with ties to members of the collective of visual artists, musicians, writers, and other innovative rogues that mingled during the latter years of college. Brad played guitar, Spencer bass, and Greg drums, with various other characters stepping in to collaborate on occasion.

Following Brad and Spencer’s graduation, the trio wandered north to Talkeetna, Alaska, and on a visionary Denali night the name pə-‘rād was conceived, an attempt to convey the feeling of being free in the shadow of the looming Alaska range, adjacent to the river confluence and plodding over Talkeetna’s pebble-strewn riverbed. In late 2009, they went to Seattle to record a seven-song EP to cassette with Spokane analog producer Leftist Nautical Antiques. The band then went on indefinite hiatus for the winter season, with Spencer moving to Seattle, and Brad and Greg to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Something about Alaska was drawing them back, and after a series of unanticipated circumstances pə-‘rād found themselves reunited in Talkeetna in May of 2010. It was at this point that Ryan began contributing, moving up with the band following a stint in Seattle, and by the close of the summer the consensus was that the addition of a musician and the subsequent changes warranted the commissioning of a new banner to promote and play under. The product of this self-reflection was the name “Reed Lakes,” giving the new shape of the band a coherent and uncomplicated moniker to go by.

Reed Lakes is currently in Girdwood, Alaska and in the process of developing new music and booking shows for the winter season. To get in touch with us please send an email to: contact@https://www.tradebit.com.
