Lead by Salem State University professor Todd Clancy, on his 8-string guitar - an instrument that lets him play bass and guitar at the same time. The instrument runs in stereo, giving him the ability to separate the bass and guitar, and lets him get a wide variety of sounds - from hammond B3 and funked-out wah, to more traditional guitar sounds. Listeners frequently do a double take thinking that something must be pre-recorded.
LUX utilization of two saxophones is also very rare. With the lyrical lines of Jared Holaday on tenor and Amy McGlothlin (also an SSU faculty member) on alto with her powerful runs, the two create a sound that can be as round and warm as it can be big and fat and funky!
