Details:
Della Valle (DELLA- VAL) is a 5-piece band from Hoboken NJ with a passion for storytelling. What started out as singer/songwriter Jay Della Valle''s solo project back in 2003 has spawned an arcade of musical prowess, now known as DELLA VALLE.

The evolution of an artist over time is what it''s all about. Not unlike getting on a roller coaster the fans judge the ride and ultimately decide whether or not they want to spend their money, their time, and in some ways risk their lives by getting on that ride, and enduring the twists and turns of adventure in the name of entertainment. The roller coaster DELLA VALLE keeps things unpredictable - pop-rock doused with elements of americana, soul, blues, electronica, old school hip-hop, and a splash of reggae. This recipe captures the raw spirit of modern indie rock, an experiment in life''s adventures that bring forth respective anthems delivered boldly by frontman Jay Della Valle.

In 2006 and after various well received EPs- Della Valle''s first LP, Pink Elephants, was released and the band was fortunate to tour quite frequently between then and 2009 in support of the record. They played alongside bands such as Wilco, Jesse Malin, Bigg Head Todd & The Monsters, The Spin Doctors, Murder By Death, The Flavor Savers, The Grilled Lincolns, and even... Lady GaGa (before she was famous).

Guitarist David Wayne Reid first spotted Jay Della Valle playing at The Goldhawk in Hoboken. "All I saw was a guy with a handlebar mustache and suspenders playing to a packed house on a Wed night. I had to meet this person!" says Reid. The two exchanged info and agreed to meet for a drink a few weeks later, and ended up realizing they have a freakishly amount of things in common. In typical Springsteen/Van Zandt fashion the duo had found their musical counterparts and immediately began discussing new ideas. Armed with a utterly resilient sense of ambition Della Valle and Reid put their musical laundry on the table and sorted out what would evolve from a solo-act to a full band lineup.

Jay and Dave hired good friend Taylor McLam (Orange 9mm, Gavin Rosdale) as their producer to sculpt the new sounds. For the live experience they reached out to John Zakis (Down for Low, Stacy Smith) and Leigh Nelson (Billionaire Boys Club, Band of Thieves) to build an even bigger sound. Years of touring and recording with their own respective projects and always an eagerness to join forces- the timing was suddenly perfect for Zakis and Nelson to come onboard. Shortly thereafter, Sheldon Rifkowitz brought his keys and vocals in to complete the all-star lineup.

Categorizing their sound will prove daunting, but it''s also what makes them captivating and keeps them interesting. Similar to bands like "Cake" and "Sublime"- Della Valle shifts between soulful rock and other genres naturally and effortlessly. Not many bands today can play a ballad that literally causes a room to hush followed by a hard rock song that provokes people to throw their hands in the air.

Della Valle and Reid produced and recorded their 2nd full-length album, "The Terminology of The Situation Is...", at Soulcraft Production near Huntington, Long Island. Located on the premises also was a homemade skateboard park their producer used to teach kids how to skate ramps in between sessions. "You have to have some other activities to break up the recording process- it can really wear you out if you don''t take good productive breaks, says Jay Della Valle." Due to excessive scheduling conflicts-after many months in the studio, their hard work would finally prevail- "Terminology" is finally scheduled to be released on Facebook- 2/14 and on other online retailers 3/1.

"The Terminology of the Situation" is Della Valle''s answer to the experiences and escapades of the mid-twenties. "I basically spent my early twenties dealing with relationship issues and all my songs reflected things like heartbreak and rising up from unrequited love, etc. My mid-twenties were when I realized that if I wanted to keep writing good music- I would have to experience the world beyond just relationships with girls- so I went backpacking to Cambodia, on Safari in Africa, surfing in Hawaii, traveling through Europe- intent on soaking up as much adventure as I could- more life material to draw from and I guess at the same time- running from mediocrity or just getting stuck in the same patterns and locations. Dave Reid, also an avid adventurer and sharing the same sentiments- would know just how to compliment "Della Valle''s" storytelling and the sounds each song required.

The song "Put Your Slippers On" in inspired by jumping off a 50 foot cliff in Hawaii called "the end of the world." A friend in Hawaii who has great theories on women helped inspire "Bitches Be Crazy", and "Legs So Long It''s Crazy" is a song about one semi-straight laced guy''s adventures in dating a professional dominatrix. "We''ll Always Have Midnight", the first single on "Terminology", is a refreshing take on breaking away from the monotony of life and taking control of your destiny. The video for "Midnight" shows this through the brilliant cinematography of director Jack Roberts.

"Terminology" is sexy and fun to dance to- others fit a more introspective mood- caught in your mind- looking for some ease. Unlike some records with songs that all speak one general vibe with the same instrument, Della Valle produces stories, reflections, souvenirs. As in life, these overtures are compelled by their own variations in rhythm, instrumentation, and general vibe. Expect the unexpected.

Della Valle hails from Hoboken, NJ. They''re currently producing their 3rd video (live), and will be touring nationally in 2011. Look out for these guys!!
